Because Windows was designed specifically with IPv6 present, Microsoft does not perform any testing to determine the effects of disabling IPv6. If IPv6 is disabled on Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, or Windows Server 2008, or later versions, some components will not function.
Dec 14, 2018 · IPv6 is core to the Windows operating system and Microsoft doesn’t do any testing with it turned off so they won’t guarantee that anything will work properly without IPv6. Of course, many things do but behind the scenes, Windows has to work hard and fall back to older protocols after it finds that IPv6 isn’t available. Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is the latest IP revision, developed as a successor to IPv4. IPv6 provides a much larger address pool so that many more devices can be connected to the Internet. It also improves addressing and routing of network traffic.

Jun 21, 2020 · An Ipv6 address uses 128 bits as opposed to 32 bits in IPv4. IPv6 addresses are written using hexadecimal, as opposed to dotted decimal in IPv4. See Binary numbers explained Because an hexadecimal number uses 4 bits this means that an IPv6 address consists of 32 hexadecimal numbers. IPv6 does not implement broadcast addressing. Broadcast's traditional role is subsumed by multicast addressing to the all-nodes link-local multicast group ff02::1 . However, the use of the all-nodes group is not recommended, and most IPv6 protocols use a dedicated link-local multicast group to avoid disturbing every interface in the network.
